i've always kinda wondered why Stump stopped hiring Bruce. was there a falling out of some kind? Groove Requiem is my favorite ski film of all time, but it wouldn't probably be better with that Taos seg in there, hey?

Just reading through your old intros and although Powder is still a great mag, your tenure at the top was definitely the pinnacle of the mag. As a DC boy, I loved reading your short accounts of East Coast skiing as I could relate. Your pics on your site are outstanding and I continue to enjoy your work. Keep it up. Take care. Mike

I just googled your name after receiving a postcard notice today in the mail that the Jan 2010 issue of Adventure would be the last. I was excited to find this site and your adventure blog as well. I've had this particular intro framed and hanging on my wall for the last 15 years and since then have been a big fan of your writing and photography. I went to school in UT to take advantage of the skiing and had many wonderfully deep days in Little Cottonwood - never 55 inches, but still good. Now I find myself working in the flatlands of southern Jersey and although I'm borderline devastated at the closing of Adventure, I do hope that the skiing buzz keeps going for you. The Bird got dumped on again this past weekend, now I just need a jet to get out west...

Would like to find a snow ski partner for pretty much any day this winter. I like copper mountain and winter park. I normally ski blue's and a few black's.

I had tried to find this one a few years ago. I was a huge fan of your intros. obviously, i still am. But something about the imagery of this one stuck. On countless random occasions I've honestly thought of the silly Americana ski tale told in this column. It might be weather-related, or red-neck related. But whatever the case, it regularly has crossed my mind for, it looks like (gasp), 18 years. Thanks for posting these. And thanks for your great work back in The DAy at Powder.

This isn't an exaggeration this very article "chase the stick" is the very article that got me up skiing for the first time in my life. I have never put the skis away since then. Thanks Steve for making me want to blow thousands of dollars on skis and equipment for the last 14 years.

This is the best intro EVER! I cut this one out of my powder mag when I got the issue and I have had the original copy in my wallet for the last 10 years. It pretty much sums it all up. A real honest insight that speaks to the person for whom the line between skiing and life is nonexistent. Thanks Steve.
